About this module

Wellbeing and Involvement are two key theoretical frameworks within Childcare.

The level of a child's wellbeing is an indicator of how well the environment is helping children build trusting relationships, a sense of belonging, self knowledge, and good emotional health freeing children to participate in their curriculum with vitality and enjoyment.

How involved a child is an indication of how well the activities, the resources and the adult support within the setting is engaging the child and this is likely to be less if the child doesn't have a good sense of wellbeing.

Importantly the wellbeing and involvement of the child is directly driven by you as the trusted adult making a decision about the situation that the child is in rather than the child themselves. It gives you immediate feedback from the child about the affect of the approach and the environment that you have developed, allowing you to make adjustments if you feel it is needed.

This course will explain the theory around wellbeing and involvement and will enable you to enhance the experiences you offer to the children in your care, giving you the opportunity to reflect and extend on your current practice.
