First introduced into the EYFS in 2008, Schemas are seen in children who have a very strong drive or natural urge to play in a particular way. This virtual training course will help you use schemas in your day to day practice and planning for individual children.

Schema play is especially noticeable in toddlers as they try to make sense of the world, one action at a time. It is not possible for an adult to understand how an infant sees the world so we make assumptions that their understanding is similar to ours, but it is not.
Understanding schematic play and how this fits into the Characteristics of Effective Learning can help you provide meaningful experiences for the children in your care. This virtual course focuses on the most common Schemas, giving you resource ideas and examples of how you can enhance children's vocabulary through their schematic behaviours.
