About this event

Join Ellie Collar, (SPECIALIST TEACHER FOR SEND, TRAINER AND CONSULTANT FOR SCHOOLS, EARLY YEARS AND EDUCATION) where she will look at some easy strategies, insights and techniques you can use to help understand and support your children and their families in developing children's emotional and behavioural skills, and helping you keep your sessions positive and calm when challenges come along.

Behaviour is communication, and understanding what children are telling us through their actions is key to supporting their wellbeing and development. In this interactive workshop, we'll explore practical tools, insights and techniques that you can use straight away in your childminding setting.

Together, we'll look at how clear boundaries help children feel calm, safe and confident; how to observe behaviours to identify patterns, triggers and underlying needs; and how to make the most of tools such as ABC charts to inform your planning and support strategies.

We'll also explore children's emotional development, including ways to build independent self-regulation skills, recognise early warning signs before behaviours escalate, and use effective regulators to support everyone's wellbeing. The session will also help you distinguish between typical developmental behaviours and signs that a child may have additional underlying needs, with guidance on what steps to take next.

Come with a child or children in mind and leave with practical ideas you can apply immediately in your setting.
