About this event

Join internationally respected Early Years Physical Development consultant Helen Battelley for an insightful session exploring the fundamental principles of baby development. This expertly designed course will explore how primitive reflexes, neural activity, and movement play shape a child’s early learning experiences and long-term physical development, and is aimed at those working with babies to early Walkers.

Key topics include:

  • Understanding Primitive Reflexes – Their role in shaping future movement, learning, and development.
  • The 8 Sensory Systems – Beyond the traditional five senses, explore how interoception, proprioception, and the vestibular system influence infant development.
  • Sensory-Motor Play – Practical strategies to engage infants in movement experiences that support brain connections and early coordination.
  • The Importance of Movement in Infancy – Why free and active movement in early life lays the foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing.

Helen’s engaging and research-based approach will provide you with practical ideas and will enhance your understanding of physical and sensory development in the critical early years. Movement matters in infant hood and this session will explain why!
