Literacy in the Early Years is a comprehensive covers everything that you need to know from talking to a new baby when they are born right up to when they are reading and writing in school.

A love of reading is one of the most important skills we can give our children and this course includes input from our Patron and children's author, Neil Griffiths on how to do this. We then look at when and how to introduce phonics to children, the importance of teaching these skills correctly including a look at the 3 most common phonics programmes used in schools in England today.
This course will provide you with lots of activity ideas to do with the children on building core strength as well as those important shoulder, arm and hand muscles so that when the children are ready to write, they are able to do so successfully.
It is important when teaching children to read and write phonics that this is done in the correct way to ensure that they don't have to 'undo' any learning when they start school.
We look at muscle memory, the importance of enabling children to be imaginative, creative and curious through open ended play and how to involve parents in their children's learning.
Once successfully completed we'll send your name, email address and details of this module to the CPD Accreditation Service.
The CPD Accreditation Service will email you a certificate showing the number of CPD hours you have earned.
You can store or print the certificate as a record of your Continuing Professional Development.
