As a childminder it’s your responsibility to make your home safe and prevent accidents, as well as keeping children safe when you are out and about. You should ensure high standards of hygiene, and be prepared for an emergency.

The EYFS requires you to carry out risk assessments to show the measures you take to help keep children safe. These do not necessarily need to be written-but many childminders do keep written risk assessments so they can easily show the measures they have taken to minimise the risk of accident and injury.
