If you want to be sure that your setting is as effective as possible in providing for children’s Expressive Arts and Design Development then this document is for you.
Expressive Arts and Design involves guiding children to make sense of their physical world and their community through opportunities to explore, observe and find out about people, places, technology and the environment.
It is broken down into two aspects: Exploring and Using Media and Materials and Being Imaginative
This checklist is an audit that is designed to help you look at the environments you provide to promote EAD within your setting.
It is divided into sections for Exploring and Using Media and Materials and Being Imaginative to make it easier for you to link observations around learning in these areas.
As you work through the checklist, tick the column that most reflects your setting. This list is not exhaustive, you will notice extra rows that are left blank in case you wish to add other statements that apply to your setting.
Once you have completed the checklist, it will help you to identify any areas where changes may be helpful. You can then use the Action Plan at the end of this document to record any changes you wish to make.
